Lunit Newly Included in MSCI Global Small Cap Index... "Expecting Foreign Investment Inflow"
Medical artificial intelligence (AI) company Lunit announced on the 16th that it has been newly included in the Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) Global Small Cap index.
MSCI is an index published by Morgan Stanley Capital International, a subsidiary of the American investment bank Morgan Stanley, and is a representative benchmark used as an investment standard for international financial funds. It is especially influential as it is widely tracked by global funds targeting the entire world.
MSCI announces the inclusion and exclusion of constituent stocks by sector every February, May, August, and November. In the global small cap sector announced this month, a total of 31 domestic companies, including Lunit, were newly included.
Lunit's market capitalization has steadily increased this year as the medical AI field gained attention alongside the rise of generative AI ChatGPT earlier this year. In the first quarter of this year, it recorded sales of 11 billion KRW, the highest quarterly figure ever and a 269% increase compared to the same period last year.

Seobum Seok, CEO of Lunit, said, "Since many passive funds that invest in specific index constituent stocks track the MSCI index, the inflow of investment funds through inclusion in the MSCI index is expected to have a positive effect on the future stock price trend."
