Omiseop, Gwangju Seo-gu Council Member, Proposes 'Digital Sex Crime Prevention Act'
Omiseop, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Council, announced on the 14th that the "Seo-gu Digital Sex Crime Prevention and Victim Protection and Support Ordinance" was approved as originally proposed at the 311th Extraordinary Session of the Social and Urban Committee meeting.
This ordinance was enacted to prevent digital sex crimes such as distributing photos and videos taken without the consent of the other party or using them for blackmail, and to promote the dignity and human rights of victims through protection and support.
The ordinance includes ▲the responsibilities of the district mayor ▲matters related to implementation plans and surveys ▲matters concerning digital sex crime prevention and victim protection and support (Article 6 of the draft) ▲confidentiality and prevention of secondary damage, among others.
Councilor Omiseop said, "With this ordinance establishing the basis for conducting surveys on the actual conditions of digital sex crimes and promoting projects for victim support and protection, we will strive to help create a Seo-gu free from digital sex crimes."
