A special fairy tale journey into the world of childhood innocence unfolded on the 13th in Banghwa-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Tae-woo), welcoming both adults and children alike.
The ‘Gangseo Children's Fairy Tale Festival,’ held face-to-face for the first time in four years, was bustling with family visitors accompanied by children. It was truly a world for children.
The highlight of the fairy tale festival was undoubtedly the street parade that filled a stretch of about 900 meters. Both children and adults dressed as various fairy tale characters such as The Little Prince, Alice in Wonderland, and The Wizard of Oz, participating as protagonists in the parade.
Mayor Kim Tae-woo also joined the procession, holding children’s hands and matching their pace as they walked together.
For the safety of participants, the road from Gangseo Technical High School to Banghwa Neighborhood Park, the parade route, was fully closed to traffic.
Following the parade, the Hanbyeol Children's Choir and Mayor Kim Tae-woo took the stage to present the opening performance.
On this day, Mayor Kim made a surprise appearance as the ‘Gangseo Fairy’ in the children’s musical ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ receiving cheers from the children.

The Gangseo Children's Fairy Tale Festival is a resident-participation festival created from the planning stage through to execution by local libraries and residents to nurture children’s imagination and creativity.
On the main stage, various performances such as dance, cheerleading, and jump rope by local students and art groups added excitement to the festival.
Throughout the venue, various hands-on experience events were prepared where children could touch, create, and try out activities themselves.
With strong interest and support from local residents, the Gangseo Children's Fairy Tale Festival, attended by over 10,000 residents, concluded successfully with a bubble show performance.
Mayor Kim Tae-woo said, “I hope families enjoy a healing and happy time together,” and added, “We will continue to carry out child-friendly administration fitting for Gangseo as a child-friendly city and a great place to raise children.”
