Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon criticized the Democratic Party of Korea, saying they are "repeatedly undermining the 'rule of law' in a hypocritical manner."
On the 12th, Mayor Oh made this remark on Facebook while referring to Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Nam-guk, who recently sparked controversy over holding a large amount of cryptocurrency.
Mayor Oh pointed out, "Kim Nam-guk, known as a close aide to party leader Lee Jae-myung, is suspected of holding cryptocurrency while proposing related legislation in the past," adding, "There was also lawmaker Park Ju-min, who sponsored the Lease Protection Act that capped the deposit increase rate at 5%, yet raised the jeonse deposit on his own apartment before the bill passed the National Assembly."
He also criticized, "Former President Moon Jae-in purchased land including farmland under the pretext of planting fruit trees in Pyeongsan Village, but converted it to residential land in less than a year," and said, "When Lee Jae-myung was indicted on charges including breach of trust amounting to nearly 500 billion won, he dismissed it as 'fiction.' However, when former party leader Song Young-gil was investigated for allegations involving an envelope of about 10 million won, Lee urged a prompt investigation by the prosecution upon Song’s early return."

He emphasized, "'Equality before the law' is nothing less than the cornerstone of democracy. If this principle collapses, it will degenerate into a de facto aristocracy or privilege system where some are subject to the law while others evade it," and stressed, "The people must protect democracy. They must remember who is destroying the law and hold them accountable without fail."
