Minister Lee Young Meets with Japan's Startup Minister... Opening Door to Korea-Japan Startup Collaboration
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups has opened the door to venture and startup cooperation between Korea and Japan.
On the 12th, Minister Lee Young of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups held a bilateral meeting with Shigeyuki Goto, Japan's Startup Minister, at the government office in Tokyo, Japan.
The Kishida Cabinet of Japan established the Startup Minister position in August last year to serve as the command center for startup cultivation and support policies. Declaring 2022 as the inaugural year for startup creation, it has promoted startup development as a key task by announcing a five-year plan for startup growth.
Shigeyuki Goto, the Startup Minister, who has served seven terms in the House of Representatives and has experience as Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare, is regarded as having rich political experience and a passion for economic reform.
During the talks, the two exchanged views on sharing venture and startup policies of both countries, expanding startup exchanges through talent exchange and networking, and confirmed cooperation for the development of the startup ecosystems in both countries.
