On the 12th, KT announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the introduction of eco-friendly cable bobbins at the KT East building in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, with five optical cable companies including LS Cable & System and Bobbin Bank. The purpose is to replace wooden bobbins with eco-friendly ones. The optical cable companies and Bobbin Bank will actively cooperate in the use, timely supply, and collection of eco-friendly bobbins through rental contracts. Bobbin Bank is a company that produces and distributes plastic bobbins using strict raw material management and the best injection molding technology in Korea.
KT expects that strengthening eco-friendly SCM (Supply Chain Management) operations will lead to reduced packaging waste and lower disposal costs for optical cable companies, as well as cost savings from packaging through more than ten times reuse. Additionally, there will be a joint effect of resource circulation by using recycled plastics.
