Yeosu Island Expo, Basic Plan Created Together with Citizens
Reflecting Diverse Citizen Opinions, Enhancing Plan Effectiveness
With the establishment of the comprehensive basic plan for the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo scheduled to be completed in June, Yeosu City is incorporating diverse opinions from citizens into the plan to enhance its effectiveness.
Yeosu City (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced on the 10th that it will hold the ‘2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo Citizen Briefing Session’ at 10 a.m. on the 12th at Yeosu Culture Hall.
This briefing session aims to reflect various citizen opinions in the comprehensive basic plan for the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo and will proceed in the order of ▲Explanation of the comprehensive basic plan (draft) for the Islands Expo ▲On-site Q&A and opinion collection ▲Submission of briefing session opinion forms.
Any interested citizen can participate on-site on the day of the event.
Citizens who are unable to attend the briefing session can also watch the live broadcast through the ‘Yeosu City - Yeosu Story’ YouTube channel and use the replay service.
In particular, since the expo venues are located in Dolsan-eup, Hwajeong-myeon, and Nam-myeon, and interest and expectations for the expo are high among island residents and citizens, this briefing session is expected to be an opportunity to draw the blueprint of the expo together with the citizens.
Yeosu City plans to complete the comprehensive basic plan by June after sufficient review and reflection of the proposals made during the briefing session.
A city official said, “This briefing session will be an opportunity to gather diverse opinions from citizens about the Islands Expo and improve the completeness of the event,” adding, “We will do our best to successfully host the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo, the world’s first expo themed on islands, to achieve Yeosu’s second leap forward and enhance the value of islands as well as the lives and quality of residents.”
