He further added, "The two countries should especially strengthen cooperation in green sectors such as resource diplomacy and standard-setting collaboration." He also emphasized the need to enhance technological cooperation not only in eco-friendly industries like semiconductors, secondary batteries, displays, and hydrogen but also in new fields such as bio and space.
Uchida Toshiaki, Executive Director of the Japan-Korea Industrial Technology Cooperation Foundation, emphasized in his congratulatory speech that the industrial sectors of Korea and Japan must demonstrate synergy through cooperation on global issues such as carbon neutrality and trade matters. He said, "To develop the industries and economies of both countries, it is necessary to further strengthen industrial technology and personnel exchanges among medium-sized and small enterprises."
Sato Noboru, Visiting Professor at Nagoya University, gave a presentation on "The Present and Future of the Korea-Japan Secondary Battery Industry." He mentioned the increasing importance of secondary batteries as national security assets and explained the policies Japan is promoting to foster the battery industry. The Japanese government has set a goal to increase the production capacity of domestic manufacturers from the current 60GWh to 600GWh by 2030 and to raise the global market share from about 15% to over 20%.
He advised, "Especially, Japanese secondary batteries require mandatory limit testing, which reduces the risk of fire," and added, "The Korean battery industry should continue investing in safety enhancements to prevent fire accidents while simultaneously focusing on cost reduction and productivity improvement."
