At the weekly department heads meeting held on the 10th in the multipurpose conference room of the provincial office, Governor Kim said, "Businesses and the economy are investments in the future, so we must actively consider and invest in climate change. Climate change response and the environmental industry itself will be a good direction for our industry as future sources of income," adding, "In that regard, all departments should think together and the relevant departments should pay attention to related matters."
He continued, "There are already many signs that abnormal weather and natural disasters are developing due to climate change," emphasizing, "We must pay special attention to disasters that may occur in the near future. Not only the Safety Management Office and Fire Headquarters but all departments and offices, as well as cities and counties, must comprehensively respond from various perspectives."
Governor Kim also spoke about recent plans to utilize public property, stating, "We plan to form a dedicated task force (TF) led by the First Deputy Governor of Administration to prepare ways to actively utilize the province's public property in relation to bio-cluster formation, social economy, and climate change." He added, "I recently visited the Gyeonggi Sangsang Campus, and this afternoon I plan to visit the Gyeonggi Future Education Paju Campus, and next week the Lifelong Education Center in Ansan. Please create active utilization plans for various public properties instead of letting them lie idle."
Regarding the controversy over the Fukushima nuclear power plant contaminated water, he explained, "I have expressed concerns several times that the government inspection team might become a mere figurehead for the release of contaminated water from the nuclear plant," adding, "Gyeonggi Province has a large marine area and many residents engaged in fisheries, who are also the biggest consumers of seafood. This issue relates to the health and safety of Gyeonggi residents and the livelihood of industry workers, which is why I made strong remarks."
He further added, "Departments and agencies concerned at the provincial office should prepare sufficient countermeasures for various scenarios regarding this issue (Fukushima contaminated water release)."

It is important to flexibly achieve results and efficiency according to each person's work."
