A man in his 20s who repeatedly contacted his ex-girlfriend using the 'Caller ID Restriction' feature on his mobile phone was sentenced to a fine.
According to Yonhap News on the 9th, Judge Kim Tae-hwan of the Incheon District Court Criminal Division 16 sentenced A (25), who was indicted for violating the Act on the Punishment of Stalking Crimes, to a fine of 5 million won.
Judge Kim also ordered A to complete 40 hours of a stalking treatment program.
A was charged with stalking by repeatedly calling or sending messages to his ex-girlfriend B from February to March last year.
A used the caller ID restriction feature, which prevents his phone number from being exposed to the other party, to call B 11 times within 10 minutes and sent 119 messages within an hour.

Judge Kim stated, "It is recognized that the defendant continuously stalked against the victim's will," and added, "If the fine is not paid, the defendant will be detained in a labor camp for a period calculated at 100,000 won per day."
