Korea Employers Federation: "8 out of 10 Citizens Agree Labor Reform Is Essential"
It was found that 8 out of 10 people in our country agree that labor reform is necessary to strengthen national competitiveness. They responded that efforts such as securing flexibility in working hours, establishing the rule of law in industrial sites, and enhancing employment flexibility are needed for reform.
On the 9th, the Korea Employers Federation announced the results of a 'Public Perception Survey on Labor Reform Policies One Year After Government Inauguration' conducted on 1,000 general citizens. According to the survey, 80.3% of our citizens answered that labor reform is essential to strengthen national competitiveness. In addition, 73.1% of respondents evaluated labor-management relations in our country as confrontational.

View original imageRegarding the recent government initiatives to establish labor-management rule of law and improve labor-management relations systems, more than half of the public gave positive evaluations. The government policies considered to be performing best were ▲ enhancing transparency of union accounting (29.6%) ▲ strict punishment of illegal acts by construction unions (28.9%) ▲ establishment of rule of law in industrial sites (17.5%), in that order.
As for employment and labor policies that the government should focus on going forward, respondents mentioned ▲ securing flexibility in working hours (22.5%) ▲ establishing rule of law in industrial sites (19.4%) ▲ enhancing employment flexibility (13.8%), among others.

Jang Jeong-woo, Head of Labor-Management Cooperation at the Korea Employers Federation, emphasized, "Labor reform is essential for strengthening national competitiveness and developing labor-management relations," adding, "Going forward, the government must steadfastly continue labor reform, including the establishment of the rule of law."
