A 20-Year-Old Traffic Controller Seriously Injured After Being Hit by a Truck
A traffic controller directing detour traffic near an underpass where flood prevention work was being carried out was seriously injured after being hit by a running cargo truck.
According to the Gwangju Bukbu Police Station and Bukbu Fire Station on the 8th, at around 1:30 PM that day, an 8-ton cargo truck driven by Mr. A (in his 60s) struck traffic controller Mr. B (in his 20s) on the second lane inside the Wolchul Underpass in Yongjeon-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
Mr. B was seriously injured in the accident and lost consciousness; he is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
At the time, Mr. B was reportedly directing two lanes of traffic into one lane in front of the underpass where flood prevention work was being conducted.

The police confirmed that Mr. A was not driving under the influence and have booked him on charges of injury under the Special Act on the Treatment of Traffic Accidents, while investigating the exact circumstances of the accident. They are also checking whether the site safety management duties or supervision by Mr. B’s affiliated company were neglected.
