Seoul Grand Park "Epidemiological Investigation Underway"
One of the Siberian tiger triplets at Seoul Grand Park, who celebrated their first birthday last month, has died from an illness.
According to Seoul Grand Park on the 8th, the female Siberian tiger "Parang" died on the 4th after being infected with feline panleukopenia. Feline panleukopenia is a viral infectious disease that occurs in felids. When infected, white blood cells rapidly decrease, making it a fatal contagious disease for young animals with weak immune systems.
Seoul Grand Park explained that on the 2nd, the triplets showed signs of illness by not eating their food, and after examination, it was confirmed that they were infected with feline panleukopenia. Among them, Parang showed the most severe symptoms.

The triplets were born to purebred Siberian tiger father "Rostov" and mother "Penza." All females, they were born at Seoul Grand Park on April 23 last year. The park held a first birthday party on the 22nd of last month, preparing a birthday cake and a birthday table. This Siberian tiger family is internationally recognized as purebred and classified as a first-class endangered wild animal.
"Parang" and the other two, "Haerang" and "Sarang," who lived in the same enclosure, are currently receiving treatment. Although they are not eating feed at the moment, they are reported to have regained strength. The mother, Penza, and another tiger named "Miho" in the nearby enclosure also began treatment on the same day.
According to the park, the triplets received vaccinations three times between June and August last year.
Seoul Grand Park stated, "Veterinarians and caretakers are doing their best to provide treatment," and added, "We are conducting additional tests and epidemiological investigations in cooperation with external organizations to confirm the infection route and other details."
