Gumi City Sangmo Jeongsu Library, Recruiting 'School' Students

'Library Wisdom School' and 'Library Therapy School' Courses

First, the ‘Library Wisdom School’ is a nationally funded project hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korean Library Association. Sangmojeong Public Library has been selected as an executing institution for three consecutive years, securing an opportunity to provide Gumi citizens with high-quality advanced humanities learning fully supported by national funds.

This year, a total of 12 lectures will be held under the theme “Life Wisdom Learned from Anglo-American Literature and Culture,” presenting familiar Anglo-American classic literature in an easy and enjoyable way using visual media.

Second, the ‘Library Therapy School’ is a themed short-term course that heals the body and mind of modern people who are tired and in pain through stories, scents, and food. It is divided into three subjects: picture book therapy, scent therapy, and food therapy, with 10 sessions per subject and a total of 30 lectures.

In particular, scent and food therapy are expected to help frugal living in the era of high prices by allowing participants to make various aroma products and detox dishes with inexpensive materials.

Lee Seon-im, Director of the Central Public Library, said, “This year, many nationally funded courses have been selected for all public libraries, and each library is operating various unique themed courses, so citizens will enjoy choosing according to their tastes,” urging citizens’ active interest and participation.
