Gyeongbuk Province Opens Wide for Metaverse Talent Development... 2 of 3 National 'Lab' Support Projects Selected in Gyeongbuk
Kumoh National Institute of Technology and POSTECH Selected for Ministry of Science and ICT Support Project
Support for Training Master's and Doctoral-Level Talent Specialized in Metaverse for 3 Years
Geumoh Institute of Technology and Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) in Gyeongbuk have been selected for this year’s ‘Metaverse Lab’ support project by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
The Metaverse Lab support project is an advanced human resource development program targeting master’s and doctoral students, linking the development of metaverse-specialized services and content with entrepreneurship and commercialization.
Three universities nationwide were selected for this project, with two universities from Gyeongbuk enjoying the honor of being chosen.
Selected universities receive an annual project fund of 200 million KRW, with a maximum support of 600 million KRW over three years.
Geumoh Institute of Technology is developing an AI interviewer service that integrates artificial intelligence and haptic technology.
This service allows job seekers to experience various types of interviewers using generative AI, analyzes communication skills through AI, and provides an interview experience similar to real-life situations.
POSTECH is developing metaverse educational content for semiconductor and display manufacturing processes.
This reflects the industry’s demand for specialized personnel in semiconductors and next-generation displays, as well as the need for immersive educational content that replicates manufacturing processes.
After content production, it will be piloted in related department classes and plans to expand the education target to companies.
With this project selection, Gyeongbuk Province will be able to nurture and secure master’s and doctoral-level metaverse experts, establishing a full-cycle human resource development foundation linked to the ‘Metaverse Academy’ project, which has been promoted since last year aiming to train practical personnel.
