Challenge 125, Top-tier and Famous Players Participating
Busan City will host the "2023 Busan Open International Men's Challenger Tennis Tournament" at Geumjeong Sports Park Tennis Stadium from May 7 to 14.
Now in its 23rd year, the "Busan Open" is a Challenger 125-level tournament, one of the highest tiers among the world's men's Challenger events. It is sponsored by Busan City, organized by the Busan City Tennis Association, and co-hosted by the Korea Tennis Association and the Busan City Tennis Association.
With a total prize money of $160,000, 63 professional players from 16 countries, including 8 domestic and 55 international players, will compete in 59 singles matches (28 qualifying, 31 main draw) and 18 doubles matches (3 qualifying, 15 main draw), totaling 77 matches.
The tournament will hold men's singles and doubles qualifying rounds from May 7 to 8, main draw matches from May 8 to 13, and the highlight of the event?the singles and doubles finals?will take place on the last day, May 14, starting at noon. All matches are free to watch.
Notably, this year’s tournament features Chung Hyeon (2015 singles champion), who was the first Korean player to reach the semifinals of the Australian Open but was unable to fully realize his potential due to injury. His participation marks a full-fledged start to his tour comeback, offering spectators a unique and exciting experience that will further elevate the tournament’s enthusiasm.

Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan, stated, "The Busan Open is the highest-grade tournament in Korea, attracting many top domestic and international players, including four players ranked within the world’s top 100." He added, "We ask for the citizens’ great love and interest."
