“Students with Visual and Hearing Impairments, Now Study with Peace of Mind” … Gyeongbuk Office of Education Provides Teaching Materials for 16 Classes
The Gyeongbuk Office of Education will provide 2 million KRW per class to 16 classes in the province to ensure the education and learning rights of students with visual and hearing impairments.
This project aims to improve the academic performance and quality of life of students with disabilities by providing various special education services required for the education and rehabilitation of students with visual and hearing impairments.
In addition, by early identifying students with visual and hearing impairments, strengthening support for inclusive education, and providing assistive technology devices and services suitable for their types and characteristics, the goal is to create a user-centered educational environment.
This year, 16 classes have been selected to receive 2 million KRW each, totaling 32 million KRW. For visually impaired students, braille education, mobility training, enlarged text, and school life counseling sessions will be operated. For hearing-impaired students, sign language and text interpretation, purchase of augmentative and alternative communication devices, and acquisition of educational assessment tools related to visual and hearing impairments will be provided.
The Gyeongbuk Office of Education is promoting various projects for students with visual and hearing impairments, including support for cochlear implant surgery for hearing-impaired students this year as well as last year, and producing 30 sessions of sign language content with current special education teachers to raise disability awareness, which are uploaded on the official Gyeongbuk Office of Education YouTube channel ‘Matkulmeotkul’.
