Samsung Electronics Unveils 'One UI 5 Watch'... "Enhanced Sleep and Exercise Management Features"
Enhanced Sleep, Fitness, and Safety Features
Officially Included in Galaxy Watch New Models for the Second Half of the Year
On the 4th, Samsung Electronics unveiled its new Galaxy Watch operating system, 'One UI 5 Watch.'
This operating system will be piloted through a beta program on the Samsung Members app this month for users of the 'Galaxy Watch5 series' and 'Galaxy Watch4 series.' After the beta program, it will be officially installed on new Galaxy Watch products to be released in the second half of this year.
Samsung Electronics has emphasized understanding individual sleep patterns, forming healthy habits, and creating an optimized sleep environment to help users achieve better sleep. Based on this, the 'One UI 5 Watch' further enhances sleep management features.
Users can now check various tips for deep sleep, previously available only on Galaxy smartphones, directly on their Galaxy Watch. For example, avoiding caffeine six hours before bedtime and getting sunlight in the morning.
Additionally, the intuitively improved 'Sleep Insights UI (User Interface)' places the user's sleep score at the top of the screen, allowing them to see the previous night's sleep duration and quality at a glance.
One UI 5 Watch also provides personalized exercise guidance based on the user's heart rate zones. First, users can measure their personal 'cardiorespiratory fitness' with the Galaxy Watch; by running for 10 minutes, their maximum oxygen uptake (VO2max) and personalized heart rate zones based on aerobic and anaerobic thresholds are set. The Galaxy Watch then offers customized 'heart rate zones' from Zone 1 to Zone 5 based on the user's measured cardiorespiratory fitness.
Based on this, users can select the heart rate zone that fits their exercise goals. Zone 1 is the slowest heart rate zone, suitable for warm-ups, while Zone 4 is appropriate for typical high-intensity workouts.
If a user exercising in Zone 2 moves outside this zone?either to the slower Zone 1 or faster Zone 3?they receive a notification. This helps users check whether they are exercising at the appropriate heart rate for their goals.
The GPX (GPS Exchange Format) route guidance feature, available through the 'Galaxy Watch5 Pro,' has also been enhanced. Running and walking have been added to the existing hiking and cycling exercise types, allowing users to more conveniently check their location while exercising.
The Emergency SOS feature has also been improved. In an emergency, if the user presses the Galaxy Watch's home button five times consecutively and confirms the call connection, the watch will connect to emergency numbers such as 119.
