Professor Kim Gun-ho of UNIST Receives Ministerial Commendation as a 'Science and Technology Contributor'
Professor Kim Gun-ho of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at UNIST received the Minister of Science and ICT Commendation at the '2023 Science and Technology Promotion Merit Award Ceremony' held on the 2nd at L Tower in Yangjae-dong, Seoul.
This event was co-hosted by the Korea Industrial Technology Association and the Ministry of Science and ICT to honor those who have contributed to the advancement of science and technology in the industrial sector.
Professor Kim was recognized for developing precision cooling technology for medical use. This technology can be applied in various fields such as anesthesia, inflammation treatment, and autoimmune disease therapy.

Professor Kim founded License Medical based on the cooling technology and is currently leading medical technology in the field of cryogenic cooling. License Medical has gained attention by introducing ‘TargetCool,’ a non-contact medical device used for pain relief and cryogenic procedures, and received the $5 million Export Tower Award last year.
