The association and POSTECH plan to launch an executive course in September and a university student course in July within this year. They also agreed to cooperate in implementing AI human resource development programs aimed at strengthening the global competitiveness of the trade industry, focusing on gradual expansion of education by hierarchy, industry, and job function.

The education programs will be designed to enhance domestic companies' AI adoption by covering ▲ AI introduction strategy planning and execution, and ▲ generating business outcomes through AI technology utilization, enabling non-expert personnel to quickly and easily apply AI to actual work.

At the signing ceremony, Chung Manki, the Executive Vice President of the Korea International Trade Association, said, “Global companies prioritize AI (67.5%) as the digital technology to be introduced in the future,” adding, “AI has now become an imperative and universal technology that will change the paradigm of industries, companies, and our lives.” He also noted, “While the demand for AI specialists is increasing, the supply of talent is insufficient,” emphasizing, “Company-wide and all-level education is necessary for the successful adoption of AI in the trade industry.”

Market research firm MarketsandMarkets projected the AI market size to reach approximately $400 billion by 2027, growing at an average annual rate of 36.1% compared to 2022. McKinsey also predicted that 70% of global companies will adopt AI by 2030. Accordingly, the Trade Association plans to focus on cultivating convergent AI talent equipped with both field knowledge and AI technology. With an emphasis on internalizing AI personnel within domestic companies, the association aims to enhance ▲ AI technology utilization capabilities of field personnel by job function, and ▲ comprehensive business and AI technology competencies of new personnel, operating phased programs starting in July.
