From the Second Half of This Year, Stalking Victims Calling 112 Will Be Connected to the 'Women's Emergency Hotline'
Police Agency Provides 'Necessary Information and Services' to Stalking Victims at Initial Report
Starting from the second half of this year, when stalking victims report to 112, they will be connected to the Women's Emergency Call 1366, allowing them to receive information on protection services from the early stages of the incident.
The National Police Agency and the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced on the 1st that, as part of expanding protection and support for victims of the five major types of violence (stalking crimes, digital sex crimes, domestic violence, dating violence, and power-based crimes), they will strengthen cooperation to prevent stalking and ensure the safety and support of victims.
The National Police Agency will ensure that in emergency situations such as intrusion by a stalking perpetrator, victims can press an emergency bell within their residential facilities to report the incident, prompting immediate police dispatch. Patrols around residential facilities will also be intensified. The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family will start a pilot project from May to provide housing support, enabling stalking victims to live individually in temporary shelters and rental housing.
From the second half of this year, the police 112 and Women's Emergency Call 1366 will be linked to provide stalking victims with necessary information and services from the initial report. Police will also support private security services for high-risk victims.
