Walking Together in the Clean Hangang Park... Lotte Mart Hosts Puruging Event
June 2 Joint Plogging Event with Kia Daechak
2023 RE:EARTH Puruging Held
On June 1, Lotte Mart announced that it will hold the '2023 RE:EARTH Purging' event at the Jamsil Hangang Park Youth Square on June 2, ahead of Environment Day (June 5), in collaboration with Kia Hope, which is conducting a climate crisis response campaign. Following the 'Local River Plogging' conducted by the Charlotte Volunteer Group, composed of Lotte Mart employees, at 22 rivers nationwide in March, this time the plogging event is prepared with an expanded scope of participants including Lotte Mart and Super employees as well as the general public.
'Purging' is a compound word combining 'pureuda,' meaning the clean color of nature, and 'plogging,' an activity of picking up trash while jogging. The event embodies the purpose of plogging activities for overcoming the climate crisis and protecting the blue Earth. The event is expected to be held with about 300 participants, and any interested members of the public can participate free of charge. Registration opens on May 2 at 5 p.m. on the official website.
Participants can freely walk or run while picking up trash within a 5 km area for a set period. Lotte Mart will provide all participants with a plogging kit consisting of the official event T-shirt, the 'RE:EARTH Bonafit Recycle T-shirt,' as well as the 'RE:EARTH Eco-friendly Tie-back Backpack,' eco-friendly work gloves, biodegradable bags, and tongs.
Participants who complete the 5 km course and finish collecting trash will receive additional rewards. The rewards include a wooden medal, Lotte Mart RE:EARTH eco-friendly products, the private brand (PB) snack 'Oneul Joeun,' and zero-waste items such as the 'Carbon Warehouse CXP Wood Sturdy Cup, Soap Dish, and Pen' from 'Dongnam Realize,' which operates an eco-friendly CXP wood business. Additionally, various programs such as a prize drawing event and experiential booths raising awareness of climate crisis issues will be held on-site. Detailed information about the event will be uploaded later on the Purging official website.
