Early Visitors Explore Bookstore and Purchase Books on Opening Day
Former President Moon Jae-in's bookstore, 'Pyeongsan Bookstore,' began its first day of business on the 26th. Pyeongsan Bookstore opened earlier than the scheduled opening time of 10 a.m. that day.
The official first book buyers at Pyeongsan Bookstore were a couple from Suwon, Gyeonggi Province. Having come down the day before to look around the bookstore, the couple waited from 8 a.m. for the store to open and were the first to purchase books.

The books purchased by the couple were recommended by former President Moon and included △The Clash of Technologies △I Am German △The Salmon Story (3 volumes), with a total purchase price of 48,000 won.
From early morning on the opening day, local residents and individuals visited the bookstore to browse or buy books. Former President Moon was reported to have greeted visitors once a day.

On the previous day, the 25th, former President Moon held a signboard ceremony for Pyeongsan Bookstore, sharing Makgeolli, boiled pork slices, and refreshments with residents. He expressed his joy about the opening, saying, "I am very pleased that Pyeongsan Bookstore is finally opening," and added, "I hope the bookstore becomes a landmark and helps the local economy."

One bookshelf in the bookstore is dedicated to a section called 'Recommended by Moon Jae-in,' where books that former President Moon posted on social media over the past year after his retirement, such as The Power of Geopolitics and Korean History for Citizens, are gathered and introduced.
Books written by former President Moon before his election are displayed in a space named 'Moon Jae-in's Books.' Titles such as People Come First and Destiny are shelved there.
On the 27th, novelist Jung Ji-a (58) is scheduled to be the first invited author. Jung’s novel Father’s Liberation Diary (2021), which deals with the life story of her father, a partisan who was active in the South Korean Workers' Party, has sold over 250,000 copies and was nominated for the Dong-in Literary Award.
Former President Moon recommended this book on Twitter last October, saying, “I am impressed by the author’s ability to resolve understanding and reconciliation in a misguided era and ideology through a humorous writing style.”

Meanwhile, Pyeongsan Bookstore is a one-story building located within the security zone (within 300 meters of the former president’s residence). It is situated in Pyeongsan Village, Jisan-ri, Habuk-myeon, Yangsan City, Gyeongnam Province, where former President Moon’s residence is located. The bookstore was renovated from a neighboring detached house purchased for 850 million won. Construction began in early February and took about three months until the opening.
