New COVID-19 Cases at 5,027... Similar Scale to Last Week (Update)
As the COVID-19 outbreak shows signs of a slight increase, the number of new confirmed cases on the 24th was in the low 5,000s, similar to the scale from a week ago.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight on this day, there were 5,027 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 31,083,586.
The number of new confirmed cases decreased by 6,807 from the previous day (11,834) due to reduced testing over the weekend. Compared to a week ago on the 17th (4,946 cases), it increased by 81 cases.
The number of new confirmed cases has been rising for 11 consecutive days from the 14th to this day compared to a week ago. Many disease control experts believe this is due to the lifting of the indoor mask mandate on public transportation facilities and the return to school attendance.
Among the new confirmed cases, 20 were imported from overseas.
The number of critically ill patients currently hospitalized increased by 2 from the previous day to 146.
