Nexen Tire Develops Tires Using 'Eco-Friendly Materials'
Sustainable Raw Material Ratio 52%
Nexen Tire announced on the 24th that it will unveil a sustainable concept tire with an increased ratio of eco-friendly raw materials.
A sustainable tire refers to a tire made by minimizing petroleum and mineral resources and using environmentally friendly and reusable materials.
The company used 44% recycled raw materials, including natural rubber, bio-based synthetic rubber, rice husk silica, and bio-based rubber chemicals. It also applied 8% recycled materials such as PET cords recycled from PET bottles and bead wires produced in an electric furnace by recycling scrap metal, resulting in a total sustainable raw material ratio of 52%.
