Jinju Asia Weightlifting Championships ... Comprehensive Anti-Terrorism Drill Conducted
For Improving Response Capability in Crisis Situations
Jinju City in Gyeongnam announced on the 24th that it conducted a joint comprehensive safety and anti-terrorism drill involving more than 150 personnel from nine related organizations, including the Jinju Police Station, Army Unit 8962, the 39th Division, the 3rd Training Flight Group, and the Jinju Fire Station, at the Jinju Indoor Gymnasium in Chojeon-dong.
This drill was conducted in preparation for the "2023 Jinju Asia Weightlifting Championships," designated as a national important event this year, simulating scenarios involving explosives and biological terrorism within the competition venue.
The exercise was carried out to familiarize participants with the national counter-terrorism system changes following the enforcement of the Anti-Terrorism Act and to confirm the strong cooperative system among related organizations such as the police, military, and fire departments, thereby enhancing crisis response capabilities.
Shin Jong-woo, the Deputy Mayor who observed the drill, stated, "It is crucial to establish a collaborative system among related organizations that can respond immediately to any emergency situation," and added, "We ask for continuous cooperation to ensure there is not a single gap in safety until the end of the event."
Meanwhile, the "2023 Jinju Asia Weightlifting Championships," which will be held on the largest scale in the history of the event, is scheduled to take place at the Jinju Indoor Gymnasium from May 3 to 13.
