View original imageThe National Police Agency announced that it will begin full-scale enforcement from the 22nd in accordance with the revised Road Traffic Act Enforcement Regulations. When the signal is red, you must stop temporarily at the stop line or in front of the crosswalk regardless of the presence of pedestrians. At locations where right-turn-only traffic lights are installed, you may proceed only when the right-turn signal is on. The fines for violations are 70,000 KRW for vans, 60,000 KRW for passenger cars, and 40,000 KRW for motorcycles.

A National Police Agency official stated, "Since the revised law was implemented last year, drivers' awareness of right turns at intersections has increased, and the instances of threatening pedestrians crossing the crosswalk have significantly decreased," adding, "We will strengthen enforcement starting with violations that pose direct risks to pedestrians to establish a traffic culture that prioritizes pedestrian safety."
