Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) will carry out a comprehensive crackdown on the illegal distribution of Seongbuk Love Gift Certificates from the 10th to the 28th of this month.
The district's joint crackdown team will operate an abnormal transaction detection system and a reporting center, focusing enforcement activities on affiliated merchants. Merchants found engaging in illegal distribution during on-site inspections will be subject to guidance or administrative sanctions.
The main items under crackdown include ▲handling gift certificates without selling goods or providing services ▲acting as an agent to exchange gift certificates illicitly received by individual merchants ▲refusing gift certificate payments or demanding additional charges, thereby disadvantaging gift certificate holders ▲engaging in restricted businesses such as gambling industries, etc.
Merchants caught in illegal distribution will face cancellation of merchant registration, recovery of illegally obtained amounts, and fines up to 20 million KRW. Refusal or obstruction of violation investigations may also result in fines up to 5 million KRW.
Additionally, a district official stated, “If the scale of illegal distribution is large or severe, we plan to refer the case to the relevant police station for investigation.”
