Tellopet Selected for Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy R&D Rediscovery Project... Accelerating Research on Allergy-Free Ingredients and Pet Food
Telopet and Professor Kyung-sik Han's team from the Department of Food and Nutrition at Samyook University have been selected as research targets for the R&D Rediscovery Project conducted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
The project is titled "Mass Production and Commercialization of Muscle-Enhancing and Low-Allergen Soy Protein Hydrolysate Materials for Use in Animal Feed," designed to develop allergy-free protein ingredients for companion animals and to commercialize allergy-improving feed for pets.
Telopet, a company specializing in pet nutritional supplements, is the lead research and development institution for this project. It has a solid in-house research system, having launched telomere supplements for dogs and cats and developed specialized nutritional supplements such as pet-specific immunoglobulins and allergy-free proteins.
Additionally, Professor Kyung-sik Han's team at Samyook University's Department of Food and Nutrition has consistently conducted research on functional foods, achieving results in protein research for immune enhancement and the development of vegan foods that supply sufficient protein.
Kim Myung-jin, Executive Director and Head of Research at Telopet, stated, "In the pet food market flooded with copycat products, continuously investing in research and development is never easy, but we strive to develop foods that pets can safely consume and nutritional supplements that provide real benefits. We will continue to introduce new products unique to Telopet through our own research and industry-academic cooperation."
Professor Han from Samyook University said in an interview, "Companion animals are our family, but consideration for their diet and allergies is insufficient. Many pets suffer from dietary allergy symptoms such as itching and rashes, and the problem lies in the indiscriminate consumption of proteins that trigger these reactions."
He added, "Working with the Telopet research institute on this project, we aim to use hydrolysis to ultra-low molecularize proteins, creating a state free of allergens, and to commercialize allergy-free ingredients or feed using this technology."
