"18 Billion Won in 'Seized Jeonse Deposit'... Busanjin Police Station Launches Investigation"
Tenants of an officetel in Busan have not been able to recover their jeonse deposits, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
On the 20th, the Busanjin Police Station announced that they are investigating a total of six individuals, including the registered owner of the officetel in Busan and a licensed real estate agent involved in the jeonse contract, on suspicion of fraud.
According to the police, since mid-July 2020, these individuals are suspected of hiding the change of the building's actual owner from 20 officetel tenants and failing to return jeonse deposits amounting to 1.8 billion won.
The affected tenants filed a complaint with the police in December of last year, and it is reported that the officetel building is currently undergoing auction procedures.
