Human Rights Commission and Korea Journalists Association Publish Reference Guide for Human Rights Reporting
The National Human Rights Commission of Korea (NHRCK) announced on the 19th that it has jointly published the '2023 Human Rights Reporting Reference Casebook' with the Korea Journalists Association.
This casebook is a follow-up project to the establishment of the Human Rights Reporting Guidelines by the NHRCK and the Korea Journalists Association in 2011 and their first revision in 2014. The casebook was planned and edited focusing on new human rights issues raised after the first revision.
During the review process of the casebook, the NHRCK and the Korea Journalists Association incorporated opinions from field journalists, media scholars, lawyers, and media activists. Additionally, the appendix of the casebook includes 14 materials such as various guidelines, standards, charters, and codes announced by media organizations.
The casebook is composed of 13 sections, including disaster reporting and human rights, infectious disease reporting and human rights, suicide reporting and human rights, crime, sexual violence, sexual harassment, prostitution reporting and human rights, among others.
