Gwangju Seobu Fire Station Seeks Firefighting Artifacts for Fire Museum Exhibition
On the 13th, the Gwangju Western Fire Station announced that it is collecting firefighting artifacts to be exhibited at the National Fire Museum, scheduled to be established in 2025.
The National Fire Museum is planned to be built in Gwangmyeong-si, Gyeonggi-do, for the purpose of preserving and researching firefighting artifacts. The significance of the collection and donation campaign is to honor efforts for safety by finding historical materials and artifacts related to firefighting (such as firefighting tools), and to spread a culture of safety through museum exhibitions and visits.
The items targeted for collection and donation include all firefighting-related materials such as fire trucks and equipment, safety helmets, badges and souvenirs, and photographs. Donated artifacts will be registered as part of the National Fire Museum’s collection, permanently preserved and exhibited, and also used as educational materials to promote safety culture. In particular, materials with high historical value will be registered and managed as national registered cultural properties.
Those wishing to donate can download the relevant forms from the Fire Artifact Archive and submit them via email, or contact the artifact manager at the Western Fire Station by phone. Donors will be issued donation certificates and receive special benefits such as having their names listed on the Hall of Fame donor roster.
