Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced that the ‘Yeosu Renaissance Citizen Movement Practice Headquarters’ held an inauguration ceremony at Yeosu Culture Hall on the afternoon of the 12th and officially began its activities.

The ‘Renaissance Citizen Movement Practice Headquarters’ is composed of about 900 citizens from 27 eup, myeon, and dong practice headquarters, including members of professional and social organizations leading the citizen movement and volunteers, to cultivate Yeosu’s future through the power of its citizens.

Starting with the inauguration ceremony, the committee members will carry out three core tasks: ▲ Supporting the successful hosting of the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo ▲ Cultivating the beautiful island city of Yeosu ▲ Creating a sustainable Yeosu.

To this end, they plan to operate a monthly focus practice day and promote various activities with citizens, such as a city-wide promotional campaign for the Islands Expo, kindness, order, cleanliness, and volunteer movements, village environment improvement, and resource recycling campaigns.

At the inauguration ceremony, about 300 eup, myeon, and dong practice headquarters committee members attended, reading a resolution, delivering a practice flag, and performing a citizen movement pledge performance to strengthen their determination for the success of the citizen movement.

At the event, Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong of Yeosu said, “As Yeosu enters the Renaissance era, I ask citizens to unite their capabilities so that Yeosu can leap to a higher level,” adding, “I hope today’s inauguration ceremony will be an opportunity to gather strength for the citizen movement and give wings to Yeosu’s future.”
