Ulsan Office of Education Conducts Fire and Earthquake Response Drills in School Dormitories
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education will conduct fire evacuation and earthquake response drills at 13 schools operating dormitories until the 14th.
The dormitory fire evacuation and earthquake response drills are carried out by each school establishing its own plan to organize emergency contact networks, eliminate ignition sources, inspect the condition of firefighting facilities and evacuation routes, and conduct evacuation and safety education training.
The fire evacuation drills are conducted in collaboration with local fire stations during nighttime hours, which are vulnerable times for evacuation, to enhance the response capabilities of students and staff in case of fire.
In this drill, the fire evacuation smoke masks provided by the Ulsan Office of Education last year for students residing in school dormitories will be used in practice.
The smoke mask is a portable protective device that neutralizes toxic gases and aids breathing from incomplete combustion products during a fire, securing evacuation time.
The Office of Education places the smoke masks in dormitory bedrooms for use in actual dormitory fires and other emergencies.
