'Arrest Warrants Issued for Two Senior Chinese Officials in Gangnam Drug Drink Case... Passports Invalidated'
Yoo Ah-in Acknowledges Additional Accomplices... Investigation Expands
The police have confirmed that they have applied for arrest warrants for two members of a Chinese phone fraud organization who ordered the distribution of drugs in connection with the drug beverage incident that occurred in the academy district of Daechi-dong, Gangnam, Seoul.
A Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency official stated at a press briefing on the 10th, "We have obtained arrest warrants for the two individuals believed to have given orders from China, and we plan to proceed with invalidating their passports simultaneously."
On the 3rd, in the academy district of Daechi-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, distributors divided into two groups of two handed out beverages containing drug ingredients to students, claiming they were "drinks good for enhancing concentration." They also obtained parents' phone numbers under the pretext of a survey and made threatening calls, saying they would report the children's drug use to the police.
According to the police, the perpetrators threatened the parents of the affected students, saying they would inform them of their children's drug use and demanded a remittance of 100 million won.
One of them was confirmed to have a history of working as a collector for voice phishing scams. A police official said, "One female suspect has a record of acting as a face-to-face collector for voice phishing," adding, "There were a total of 11 cases causing about 200 million won in damages." Two part-time workers among the suspects were found to have drunk the beverages out of curiosity, unaware that they contained drugs.
Regarding the investigation of actor Yoo Ah-in (37), who is under police investigation for habitual propofol use, the official said, "We have identified additional accomplices suspected of using drugs together and are investigating them, with plans to summon them for further questioning."
Concerning the fortune teller Cheongong, who is suspected of involvement in the relocation of the Yongsan Presidential Residence, the official said, "The CCTV analysis has been completed," and added, "Last week, through his lawyer, Cheongong himself sent a statement to the police denying any connection to the Yongsan residence relocation."

Regarding Park Kyung-seok, co-representative of the National Solidarity for the Elimination of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities, the official stated, "Mr. Park was released after being arrested," and added, "Future investigations will proceed according to law and procedure." Mr. Park is under investigation for violating the Assembly and Demonstration Act, among other charges, for holding protests guaranteeing mobility rights in various parts of downtown Seoul, causing train delays and occupying roads.
