World No. 3 Jon Rahm (Spain) wore the 'Green Jacket' for the first time.
On the 9th (local time), Rahm added 3 under par in the final 4th round of the 87th Masters Tournament (total prize money $18 million), which concluded at Augusta National Golf Club (par 72, 7,545 yards) in Augusta, Georgia, USA, securing a 4-stroke victory (12 under par, 276 strokes). This marked his 4th win of the season and 11th career victory, two months after the Genesis Invitational on the PGA Tour in February. The winner's prize money was $3.24 million (approximately 4.27 billion KRW). It was his second major championship win following the 2021 US Open. In the 4th round, he recorded 4 birdies and 1 bogey. At the 4th hole, Brooks Koepka (USA) made a bogey, allowing Rahm to tie for the lead. At the 6th hole (both par 3s), Koepka lost another stroke, and Rahm took a one-stroke lead. Rahm extended his lead to 4 strokes with consecutive birdies on the 13th and 14th holes, savoring the joy of standing atop the Masters leaderboard.
Rahm hails from Barrika, Spain, and graduated from the prestigious golf program at Arizona State University in the USA. He gained attention by winning the Ben Hogan Award, given to the best amateur, consecutively in 2015 and 2016. Turning professional in 2016, he immediately won the Farmers Insurance Open in January 2017. He also won the CareerBuilder Challenge in January 2018, the Zurich Classic in April 2019, and notably the Memorial Tournament in July 2020. Rahm became world No. 1 for the first time in 31 years for a Spanish player since Ballesteros in 1989.
In June 2021, Rahm became the first Spanish national to win the US Open. This year, he has shown a formidable rise in form, winning 4 out of 10 tournaments he entered this season, including the Sentry Tournament of Champions and the American Express in January, the Genesis Invitational in February, and now the Masters.
Phil Mickelson (USA) surged with a 7-under-par round to jump to a tie for 2nd place (8 under par, 280 strokes). Brooks Koepka, who led the previous day, faltered with a 3-over-par round and dropped to this group. Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed tied for 4th place (7 under par, 281 strokes), while defending champion Scottie Scheffler (all USA) finished tied for 10th (4 under par, 284 strokes). South Korea’s Kim Joo-hyung and Im Sung-jae tied for 16th (2 under par, 286 strokes), Lee Kyoung-hoon tied for 23rd (1 under par, 287 strokes), and Kim Si-woo tied for 29th (1 over par, 289 strokes).

The 'Golf Emperor' Tiger Woods (USA) withdrew before the final round due to worsening plantar fasciitis. This was the first time Woods had withdrawn during the Masters Tournament. Having played in 25 Masters tournaments so far, he had completed every event except missing the cut in 1996. Woods was in last place among the 54 players who made the cut after the 7th hole of the third round, at 9 over par.
