Lim Jong-sik, Superintendent of Gyeongbuk Office of Education, conducted a capacity-building training session on the basic direction of school education and support for future education for over 200 early childhood and elementary education professionals at The-K Hotel Gyeongju on the 7th.
Held under the theme "Warm Gyeongbuk Education, Towards Global Education Standards!", this training was organized to discuss the basic direction of the 2022 revised curriculum and school education that can coexist with artificial intelligence, and to establish the role of education professionals in supporting this.
The 2022 revised curriculum, which will be applied from grades 1 to 2 in elementary schools starting in the 2024 academic year to cultivate competencies needed in future society and strengthen learner-tailored education, supports deep learning that expands thinking by clearly understanding the fundamental concepts unique to each subject.
This training provided an in-depth understanding of concept-based learning, which is the foundation of deep learning, and discussed and shared information on how education professionals can support the operation of school curricula.
Additionally, participants reflected on what and how schools should teach in the rapidly approaching era of artificial intelligence, including the recently emerging issue of 'CharGPT' in education and society at large, and considered the direction current education should take for students who will live in the future.
