The Coexistence Classroom Support Project plans to operate based on the needs and autonomy of schools, targeting middle schools that wish to participate. Currently, 97 out of 113 middle schools in the province have been selected as target schools.

The Coexistence Classroom assists students who require individual support during lessons by assigning support instructors who play an auxiliary role in the teaching and learning process, conducting cooperative classes together with subject teachers.

Support instructors can assist with cooperative classes in various subjects depending on the school’s situation, in addition to designated subject support, and if the school wishes, more than two additional instructors can be assigned.

Furthermore, the operation of schools running the Coexistence Classroom will be supported through management of support instructors’ duties, and mid- to long-term comprehensive measures will be prepared and implemented to ensure that the Coexistence Classroom for learning schools is firmly established within schools.

Jeong Seon-yeong, Director of Secondary Education, stated, “The newly introduced Coexistence Classroom will play a role in listening to the opinions of school sites through regional councils and support instructor workshops,” adding, “We will ensure that the Coexistence Classroom Support Project is stably promoted through communication with schools.”
