Defending champion Jang Su-yeon has withdrawn from title defense due to a wrist injury.
Jang Su-yeon injured her wrist and gave up defending the title at the Lotte Rent-a-Car Women's Open.
View original imageJang Su-yeon gave up participating in the 2023 season Korean Women's Professional Golf (KLPGA) Tour domestic opener, the Lotte Rent-a-Car Women's Open (total prize money 800 million won), which kicked off on the 6th at Lotte Skyhill CC in Seogwipo, Jeju Island (par 72, 6,395 yards). Jang Su-yeon withdrew from the competition around 9 a.m. that day due to worsening wrist injury. Park Bo-gyeom, who was the number 1 'standby', got the lucky chance to participate in the tournament instead.

Jang Su-yeon is the only two-time champion of this tournament, having won in 2016 and 2022. She was scheduled to play alongside Park Min-ji and Lee Jeong-min in the first round. Jang Su-yeon will also not participate in the LPGA Tour Lotte Championship held next week in Hawaii, USA. She earned the right to compete in the US tournament by winning last year's Lotte Rent-a-Car Women's Open.
