Man in His 60s Arrested for Setting Fire and Wielding Weapon in Apartment Flowerbed
A man in his 60s who set fire to his clothes and threw them out the window, causing a fire in a flower bed and wielding a weapon while confronting the police, has been arrested.
The Gwangju Northern Police Station announced on the 6th that they arrested a man in his 60s, Mr. A, on charges including attempted arson of an occupied building.
Mr. A is suspected of throwing clothes set on fire from the balcony of his apartment around 7:40 p.m. the previous day, causing a fire in the flower bed outside.
According to the police investigation, Mr. A committed the crime because the 119 paramedics did not take him to the hospital.
The fire in the flower bed was quickly extinguished by the apartment security guard without spreading, but during this process, Mr. A wielded a weapon and interfered with the fire extinguishing.
Later, when the police arrived, he continued to wield the weapon and confront them, but was soon subdued.
