Ulsan Health and Environment Research Institute Conducts Lead and Mercury Tests at Playground Daycare Centers
80 Children's Spaces with 5 Types of 'Environmental Hazard Factors'
The Ulsan City Health and Environment Research Institute has begun testing for environmental hazardous factors in children's activity spaces, continuing until October.
The inspection targets 80 locations, including daycare centers, residential complex playgrounds, outdoor playgrounds, and large stores with play facilities, where children under 13 years old mainly play or stay.
The test items include five factors such as lead, cadmium, and mercury. The testing method involves using an X-ray fluorescence analyzer, a portable heavy metal detector, to measure environmental hazardous factors on indoor and outdoor playground equipment painted with paint, flooring materials, finishing materials, and soil in sand playgrounds within children's activity spaces.
In particular, if there is concern that environmental safety management standards may be exceeded, samples will be collected for detailed examination.
