Hankook Tire Maximizes AI Capabilities to Strengthen "Smart Tire Competitiveness"
On the 6th, Hankook & Company and its affiliate Hankook Tire & Technology (hereinafter Hankook Tire) announced that they will accelerate the construction of an integrated AI data platform in joint collaboration with data cloud computing service companies Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Snowflake.
The Hankook & Company Group will create an optimized data analysis infrastructure by applying AWS and Snowflake’s cloud-based solutions and platform expertise through collaboration. They are conducting a project to build an integrated data analysis environment using the latest AI/ML (machine learning) technologies. The project utilizes AWS’s data lake environment and analysis infrastructure such as SageMaker and AutoML. Snowflake will be used as the data warehouse to promote cloud transition and business digital transformation.
AWS is the world’s largest cloud company supporting IT services such as computing, storage, databases, analytics, artificial intelligence, IoT, and security for enterprises. Snowflake, headquartered in Montana, USA, provides cloud-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) that helps efficiently store, process, and analyze large volumes of data. Snowflake is also famous as a company invested in by the investment genius Warren Buffett. It established its Korean branch in November 2021 to enter the Korean market.
Hankook & Company is conducting a project to build an integrated data analysis platform in a cloud environment. The integrated data analysis platform collects and connects internal data from research and development, production, and quality of Hankook Tire, a major business company of Hankook & Company, as well as external mobility data and VOC (Voice of Customer) data. It plans to provide an environment where these can be analyzed comprehensively.
The Hankook & Company Group will use the newly built platform as a tool to further enhance tire performance and quality. Representative examples include strengthening the performance of the electric vehicle tire ‘iON’ through integrated analysis of VOC and performance test data for electric vehicle tires, and developing autonomous driving technology by utilizing integrated analysis of vehicle operation data and external data. Additionally, they plan to lead the mobility market by improving new product development efficiency and addressing quality issues through manufacturing data analysis.
As a global company, various executives and employees, including those of its affiliate Hankook Tire, will freely access data regardless of location to identify new business opportunities and achieve strategic goals. The integrated platform will be actively used to strengthen competitiveness through data exchange and technical cooperation with external companies.
Once connected to the integrated analysis platform, anyone can easily access data and apply it to business. As a cloud service, it requires no separate platform maintenance and offers high stability, helping establish a culture where all members work with data. Furthermore, by accessing the entire data network, deeper insights can be secured and more business value can be created.
