Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Wolsong Unit 2, Automatic Start of Backup Diesel Generator
KHNP Wolseong Nuclear Headquarters reported on the 5th that the standby diesel generator of Wolseong Unit 2, which is in a reactor shutdown state due to planned preventive maintenance, automatically started.
This occurred as the circuit breaker supplying power opened, and immediately upon the circuit breaker opening, the standby diesel generator started, supplying power to the plant.
Due to this incident, the plant remains in a safe shutdown state, and there is no radiation impact on the environment.
Nuclear power plants are designed with multiple power supply systems so that even if a circuit breaker opens, power can be immediately supplied by standby equipment.
