Seongnam City Council People Power Party "Jungja Bridge Walkway Collapse Shock... Extensive Inspection of Structures"
The People Power Party of Seongnam City Council issued a press release on the 5th expressing regret over the collapse accident of Jeongja Bridge in Bundang and stated that they will do their best to prevent disasters through a thorough inspection of structures.
In the statement, the People Power Party explained, "At around 9:45 a.m. today (April 5), a major accident occurred where the guardrail of the Jeongja Bridge pier in the direction of Jeongja Station, located at 100-3 Bundang-gu, Seongnam City, collapsed," adding, "Jeongja Bridge is a pier with a total length of 108 meters and six lanes in both directions, constructed in 1993 along with the development of Bundang New Town."
They continued, "This absurd accident at Jeongja Bridge, which many residents frequently use, has caused great shock," and "All former members of the People Power Party Council of Seongnam City visited the accident site to assess the situation."
Furthermore, they stated, "This accident resulted in the death of a woman in her 40s and serious injuries to a young man in his 20s," and "We offer our condolences to the deceased and wish a speedy recovery to the seriously injured young man."
