The Namjeong-myeon Community Security Council in Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk, organized a spring outing to Andong on the 4th as part of its emotional support project, inviting elderly residents in the area who usually have difficulty going out due to living alone or caring for family members.

View original imageAt the beginning of last month, the council discussed the annual plan for the year during their New Year's meeting and planned a special project to accompany the elderly amid the long and exhausting days caused by COVID-19. All members actively supported this initiative, leading to the implementation of the project.
Accordingly, the council members prepared wheelchairs for elderly participants with mobility difficulties and acted as guardians and companions during the spring outing, thoroughly preparing all necessary arrangements to ensure a safe and comfortable trip for the seniors.
A nonagenarian mother who participated in the trip expressed her gratitude, saying, "This might be my last trip before I die, so even though I thought I might be a burden to others, I eagerly joined. This is the happiest day I've had in years. Feeling the spring energy, I didn't even notice my pain today."
Lee Hae-jung, the civilian chairman, said, "Spending a day with the elderly allowed us to feel not only a bond but also empathy, making it a more rewarding day. I hope this special day brings vitality to the seniors and becomes a memorable experience."
