'Three Kids' Jung Yura "Support Military Exemption"... Questions Gom Minjeong "Need Feminist Votes?"
Facebook Post "Military Exemption Measures Are for Mothers"
Rep. Gominjeong's Claim Refuted... "Ignorant of Reality"
Democratic Party lawmaker Go Min-jung criticized the low birthrate policy that exempts military service for those who have three or more children before the age of 30, and Jung Yoo-ra, the daughter of Choi Seo-won (formerly Choi Soon-sil), the mastermind behind the Park Geun-hye administration's state corruption scandal, called it "a comment out of touch with reality."
On the 2nd, Jung said on her Facebook, "Realistically, if you have three kids at that age, unless you are born with a silver spoon, it is hard to even cover the costs of formula and diapers," adding, "Lawmaker Go's remarks are truly words that torment mothers."

Go pointed out, "Women give birth to children, so why are men the ones receiving benefits?" and said, "Since men basically engage in economic activities, this is a backward, old-fashioned idea to let them work by exempting them from military service."
In response, Jung emphasized, "A father with three kids would really work hard to support them, and getting a military exemption is not something to be particularly happy about," adding, "The military exemption for three or more children is not a policy for men but a policy for mothers and infants."
