Marking its 40th anniversary this year, Gwangyang Steelworks considers the younger generation as key talents who will lead the next 40 years. To ensure sincere communication, it has introduced initiatives inspired by night study sessions, such as ‘Reverse Mentoring,’ where junior employees mentor their superiors, and ‘New Sharing Volunteer Service,’ which links donations with experiential activities, actively leading improvements in organizational culture.
This ‘MZ Communication Concert’ was characterized by using games and music as mediums, creating a warm atmosphere where Director Lee Jin-su and about 200 young employees connected across generations.
In the first part, ten departments including the Ironmaking Department, Refractory Department, and Steelmaking Department collaborated and competed through games such as shouting slogans and POSCO song contests, naturally fostering communication.
In the second part, there was an open communication session with Director Lee Jin-su, allowing mutual understanding and empathy. Especially meaningful was that, as a series of small-scale communication concerts conducted sequentially by each division of Gwangyang Steelworks, even the small voices of young employees were heard attentively.
The event concluded with the third part, featuring a band performance in a lively atmosphere.
Since the concert’s theme was understanding through communication and empathy, the organizing department actively reflected the participants’ needs to make the time more meaningful.
In addition to hiring a veteran recreation instructor, booths were operated to ensure participants had a great time with colleagues, providing refreshments such as cold draft beer, fried chicken, sausages, nachos, and pretzels, and shuttle buses were operated for comfortable access to the event.
Director Lee Jin-su of Gwangyang Steelworks said, “It is meaningful that the young employees who will lead the future of Gwangyang Steelworks communicated and enjoyed their time together,” adding, “We will continue to listen to employees’ voices and create various opportunities for communication.”
