Selected for Vulnerable Area Living Condition Improvement Project Competition
Naegal Village in Daega-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam, has been finally selected as the target site for the '2023 Rural Vulnerable Area Living Condition Improvement Project' hosted by the Presidential Committee on Balanced National Development.
The Vulnerable Area Living Condition Improvement Project is a program that improves conditions closely related to residents' lives, such as housing, safety, and sanitation, to ensure a minimum quality of life for residents in vulnerable areas. Since 2016, Goseong-gun has been carrying out projects in a total of seven districts to improve living conditions in vulnerable areas until last year.
Naegal Village in Daega-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam, has been finally selected as the target area for the '2023 Rural Vulnerable Area Living Condition Improvement Project'.
View original imageNaegal Village, selected this time, is a rural area where flooding of roads and houses frequently occurs due to poor drainage facilities, village alleys are narrow making it difficult for emergency vehicles to pass, and many buildings are over 30 years old.
With this selection, a total of 1.75 billion KRW will be invested in Naegal Village over four years until 2026 to carry out slate roof demolition and renovation, vacant house demolition, drainage maintenance, and more.

Park Tae-su, Director of the Rural Policy Division, said, “This selection is the result of the concerted efforts of the village residents, including the chairman of the Naegal Village Promotion Committee.” He added, “We hope that through this project, the living conditions of residents will improve, increasing the population of returnees to farming and rural areas, and becoming a good model to respond to regional extinction.”
