Invitation of Central Government Officials to Provincial Administration Briefing Session Held
On the afternoon of the 28th, Gyeongnam Province held a provincial administration briefing at the Government Sejong Convention Center, inviting key central government officials to introduce Gyeongnam's major issues and national budget projects.
According to the province, this briefing was the first of its kind held in Sejong targeting public officials from the central government.
It was promoted to build a network between central government ministries in the Sejong-Daejeon area and Gyeongnam provincial officials, share the direction of the 8th elected provincial administration, and form a consensus on Gyeongnam's major issues.
On the day, about 200 officials from 24 central government ministries attended, along with Gyeongnam Governor Park Wan-su, Park Il-ho, Mayor of Miryang and chairman of the Gyeongnam Mayors and County Governors Association, Cheon Young-gi, Mayor of Tongyeong, Jin Byeong-yeong, County Governor of Hamyang, Kim Yoon-cheol, County Governor of Hapcheon, and about 70 senior officials at the provincial government level.

The province explained and sought cooperation on pressing tasks such as ▲ the establishment of the Space Aviation Agency ▲ the construction of the South Coast Global Marine Tourism Belt ▲ strengthening the competitiveness of strategic industries including machinery, shipbuilding, and automobiles ▲ and the creation of a Northeast Asia transportation and logistics hub.
They listened to opinions and suggestions from the attending central government officials for the development of Gyeongnam and introduced spring travel destinations within the province by showing a promotional video about Gyeongnam tourism.
The province and cities/counties plan to prepare persuasive arguments and logic for major projects within the province starting from the budget formulation stage with central ministries in April and the Ministry of Economy and Finance in June, aiming to secure national funding and achieve the provincial administration vision.
The Gyeongnam Sejong Office will have provincial city and county officials dispatched to work within the first half of this year.
The dispatched officials are expected to build networks with central ministries, reflect Gyeongnam's major policies in government plans, and serve as an advanced base for securing national budget funds.
Governor Park said, “Gyeongnam once led industrialization and had the economic power second only to the metropolitan area,” adding, “This year, we will work hard with mayors and county governors to restore past glory and promote Gyeongnam’s development.”
