Netflix "70% of Global Subscribers Watch Sustainability Content"
Netflix announced on the 28th that 165 million households worldwide watched at least one piece of content related to climate change and sustainability last year. This accounts for 70% of Netflix's total membership.
In March 2021, Netflix launched the project "Carbon Net Zero, Back to Nature Now" and is participating in global carbon emission neutralization under short-term climate goals spanning several years. Netflix also supports creators who strive to incorporate sustainability stories on screen. As discussions about the impacts of climate change and solutions spread throughout society, the likelihood of sustainability-related messages being reflected on screen in the form of characters, backgrounds, and plots increases. Accordingly, Netflix continues to tell environmental stories across various genres, such as the film Don’t Look Up and the kids’ animation Sea Beast. The "Sustainability Stories" content collection includes over 200 titles.
